5 Reasons Why Freaky Deaky Is Going To Be Massive This Halloween!
Summer may be coming to an end, but if you know where to look the party never stops. With Halloween just around the corner it’s time to set your sights on the next big event. Since its inception seven years ago, Freaky Deaky has become a pivotal gathering for the electronic music scene in the Midwest. This year the wild team at React Presents is pulling out all the stops to put forth their biggest and freakiest Halloween bash to date. If you’re still on the fence about heading to Chicago for this spooky spectacle, let me tell you why Freaky Deaky 2015 is a simple no brainer for your Halloween festivities. (Tickets here!)
1. 3 Day Expansion
This year Freaky Deaky is transforming from a two day event into a huge three day festival. When it first started seven years ago, Freaky Deaky was confined to a single day of music, and in 2010 a second day of debauchery was added to this incredibly popular gathering. 2015 will mark a massive expansion for Freaky Deaky, establishing the long-standing party as a bonafide festival. This means you can expect more party-goers, bigger production and an all around more immersive atmosphere. Taking place from Friday, October 30th to Sunday November 1st, Freaky Deaky has definitely stepped up it’s game this year.
2. Massive & Eclectic Lineup
With more days added to the schedule that obviously means there will be more artists on the lineup this year, and trust me, it’s a monstrous one. Bassnectar, Pretty Lights and Armin Van Buuren headline a roster of freaks that could make any established three-day festival blush. This may be Freaky Deaky’s first year as a weekend-long massive but this lineup is the real deal. Joining the three previously mentioned headliners will be Big Gigantic, Carnage, GRiZ, Benny Benassi, Oliver Heldens, Borgore, Datsik, Sub Focus, Emancipator Ensemble, Shiba San, Richie Hawtin, Gesaffelstein, Bakermat, Justin Martin, Mr. Carmack, Pete Tong, Tchami and many more. Also if you’re a lover of rap then you’ll be happy to know that, Action Bronson, Flying Lotus, 2 Chainz, Vic Mensa, Joey Bada$$ and Mac Miller will be heading a hefty hip hop contingent to compliment Freaky Deaky’s impressive stable of DJs. Click on the flyer to the right to see the full lineup.
There is really something for everyone one at this festival. Whether you like heavy dubstep, drum and bass, deep house, techno, electro funk, trance or rap, you will easily find something that will be right up your alley.
3. New Location
Needless to say this year’s Freaky Deaky is going to need the space and stages to accommodate these superstar acts. Therefore Toyota Park, home of the Chicago Fire, will become the new location for Freaky Deaky this October. This move outside of the Chicago’s city limits to Bridgeview, IL is a good one in my opinion. The new venue will be able to accommodate, 75 artists and three unique stages, one of which will be transformed into a nightly “Scary Stage”. Each night of the festival this specially curated stage will be headlined by one of dance music’s foremost pioneers. Markus Schulz kicks things off on Friday night with the Trance Arena Stage where he will be joined by Audien, Myon & Shane 54, Orjan Nilsen, Simon Patterson and Super8 & Tab. Gesaffelstein will be bringing together a wide range of wicked beathsmiths when he headlines the Beatport Stage with Shiba San, Hannah Wants, Mr. Carmack, Will Clarke and Ricoshei. Finally the legend Richie Hawtin will bring together some of the best underground heavyweights when Dubfire, Pete Tong, Joris Voorn and Justin Martin close out the festival at the the Underground Stage on Sunday night. Toyota Stadium is gearing up to be the perfect location for this expanded freak fest, and you can be sure that React Presents will go above and beyond to create an unforgettable spectacle.
4. Halloween Theme
Boasting a terrifyingly good lineup and brand new location, Freaky Deaky is poised to be the biggest Halloween event of the year. Whether you love Halloween or never really get into the spirit, this is certainly your best bet for holiday fun. Just imagining a sea of spooks and ghouls raging to Bassnectar or being hypnotized by Emancipator is enough to give me chills. Freaky Deaky’s charm comes from its audacious vibes and unmatched theme. With haunted houses, graveyards and carnival rides, Freaky Deaky will be like no other festival you’ve ever ventured to.
5. React Presents’ Reputation
When it comes to electronic music in the Midwest there is one name that stands out from the rest, React Presents. Year after year React puts together some of the very best shows and festivals that the scene has to offer. React Presents is known for putting together absolutely top-notch events like Spring Awakening, Summer Set Camping and Music Festival, North Coast Music Festival and Mamby On The Beach. These top class professionals do a stellar job of hosting safe, fun and well organized concerts with star-studded talent. If the lineup and theme of Freaky Deaky was enough to pique your interest, then the pristine reputation of React Presents should seal the deal.
