6 Festivals You Should Experience In 2019
WIth the holidays securely behind us, its time to set our eyes on what lies ahead. 2019 is set to be yet another year of amazing shows and festivals. One major development in the music festival landscape is the rise of destination festivals. As ravers and ragers all over the world get a little bit older, the prospect of travelling abroad for new experiences is becoming more popular. We have compiled a list of 5 Music Festivals that you should experience in 2019. This list has a few of our absolute favorite events as well as a few new ones that look too good to pass up. Check out the list below.
1. Shambhala Music Festival
What else could be number one on our list? Shambhala Music Festival is easily one of the most innovative electronic music events in the world. Every August the Shambhafamily comes together for four days of exceptional music, unparalleled camaraderie and unforgettable moments. The festival takes place amidst the backdrop of the palatial Kootenay Mountains in British Columbia. There is probably no better combination of production and musical talent on the planet Earth. The six incredible stages of Shambhala (The Grove, The Amp, The Living Room, The Fractal Forest, The Pagoda and The Village) are rigged with the most astonishing sound systems you’ve ever heard. Combine that with astonishing visual effects and highly skilled performers and you get the formula for a perfect festival.
2. Elements Lakewood
Last year we attended Elements Lakewood for the first time and we absolutely fell in love with this intimate festival in Western Pennsylvania. Concocted by the mad geniuses over at BangOn! NYC, Elements Lakewood is a wonderful example of what an independently run festival can be. With an unapologetically bold artistic ethos and the immersive authenticity that has become synonymous with BangOn events, Elements Lakewood is set to seriously make some waves in its third year.
3. Bamboo Bass
Bamboo Bass is the first destination festival on this list. While we didn’t attend the event we have friends who filled us in on how epic this Costa Rican getaway really is. If you love bass music and have a penchant for adventure then Bamboo Bass is an absolute must. Based in the vibrant beach city of Jaco and now in its fourth year, Bamboo Bass is heading to a gorgeous new home at the adventure park called The Park at Ocean Ranch. Located only 15 minutes outside Jaco, the new site features countless adventure activities (ATV tours, horseback riding, ziplining, waterfalls, and a river for swimming) and so much more. With its most eclectic lineup yet including mainstays like Truth and Stylust are joined by the likes of Mr. Carmack, AC Slater, Khiva, Flava D, Abstrakt Sonance and so many more amazing names.
4. Electric Forest
Electric Forest is still the grandaddy of them all. Few festivals can hold a candle to the grandeur and magic of Forest. Rothbury is a wondrous place that seems to get better with age. Returning to a one weekend format this year, Electric Forest still boasts one of the best lineups in the game and is a required trip for just about anyone who considers themselves a music lover.
We’ve never been to Vujaday ourselves but this creative event taking place in Barbados April 3-7. After their successful debut earlier this year in Barbados, Vujaday Music Festival has returned to announce a stacked phase one lineup in preparation for their second year. Once again this dope new event will take place in different venues all across the stunning Caribbean island. This will give festival-goers the chance to take in a new experience and venue each day. House lovers will surely flock to this one as heavy hitters like Sasha, Bob Moses, Lee Burridge, Jeremy Olander, Moodymann, DJ Tennis and Octave One all make it to the island for this one.
Like Vujaday, Tmrw.Tday is a relatively new event making a name for itself in the Carribean. With their third annual retreat meets music festival experience in Jamaica rapidly approaching, Tmrw.Tday Culture Fest is excited to reveal a star-studded lineup that brings together artists and creators in the world of wellness, cannabis, reggae, house music, sustainability and more. Expertly curated by leaders of the conscious movement, the boutique and experiential getaway provides guests with the chance to take part in a transformative and truly intimate week featuring only 1,000 attendees.
