Activities and Artists you can’t Afford to Miss at DirtyBird East
Held near St. Cloud, FL, a conveniently close location for patrons in the Orlando and Central Florida, Forever Florida is a venue of lush flora and fauna - making Mother Nature the biggest headliner all weekend long.
As we inch closer and closer to the first-ever East Coast DirtyBird Campout, a fully-interactive 3-day music festival (Feb. 2-4) complete with adult Summer Camp vibes and delectable tunes from DB artists and beyond, it’s time that we recognize some must-see acts and must-play activities. Held near St. Cloud, FL, a conveniently close location for patrons in the Orlando and Central Florida, Forever Florida is a venue of lush flora and fauna – making Mother Nature the biggest headliner all weekend long. As seen on the DBC site, “The venue’s lush surroundings make you feel lost in nature, however, Forever Florida is only an hour away from Orlando International Airport. This makes going to and back from central cities very easy for all our traveling birds flocking to Campout East from afar. The location is also equidistant from both Miami and Jacksonville so those who are attending from other cities have about equal traveling time fair and square!”
Now that you’ve an idea of where this tasty tech-house and more madness will ensue, it’s time to take a closer look at the expansive yet intimate lineup, which has come to a completion with the recent release of the phase three.
The head honcho and founder of DirtyBird Records, Claude VonStroke, will be serenading campers twice throughout the weekend – once during his longest-standing alias as master of all things ranging from 120-130 BPM, and another time as Barclay Crenshaw, a creative project that showcases his silky, metaphysical slow jam side. VonStroke has achieved a vast array of musical feats since his introduction to the scene when he debuted his first ever album in 2006, entitled Beware of the Bird. One look into his humble history and you’ll find that the DB ringleader has been a crowd favorite for years, hence his rankings as America’s Best DJ in both Pioneer DJ and DJ Times’. Based out of Los Angeles, Crenshaw leads a revolutionary movement that originated on the West Coast but spans all over the country today. DirtyBird Records represents both the well-known and the up-and-coming in the techno and house collective, and rest assured Claude has these artists under his wing at all times.
The notorious name Biz Markie definitely isn’t something that is something one would expect to see when glancing at the DBC lineup. Yet when you look back on all of the roles he has played over the years, it starts to make a little more sense. The American rapper, best known for his track “Just a Friend” which is still wildly popular almost 30 years later, is also a beatboxer, DJ, actor, singer, comedian – you name it. This legend is sure to put on a more than memorable performance at Campout, so keep an eye out for the upcoming schedule to plan accordingly.
Diversity plays a key part in what makes this gathering so truly unique. Although DirtyBird players cranking out tech-house tunes are the foundation of this festival, the lineup offers a variety of electronic genres, with a little something for all EDM heads to enjoy. Those who crave dark breakbeats and drum n’ bass will be in heavy heaven come sets such as Ivy Lab and LTJ Bukem ft. MC Armanni, some of the most badass in the scene, simply said.
If you’ve ever witnessed a Destructo set, you understand how insanely hyped the energy levels are from his ruthlessly aggressive style of bass house. Having been a proactive member in the underground rave scene since the 90’s, he’s certainly no stranger to all things HARD – hence founding the Hits HARD label and exposing major names within the bass music realm. This set will be one for the books, as is every Destructo performance, so be sure to stop on by and get down.
If there’s one thing we’ve all dreamt about since we began attending festivals and events, surely it’s the merging of a Summer Camp experience with a full-blown music festival. DirtyBird has answered our dreams accordingly, and there are some scheduled activities and amenities that will set in those nostalgic vibes.
