Armin van Buuren Needs No Introduction For Electric Zoo 2014
EDM superstar Armin van Buuren is set to headline Main Stage West on Saturday, August 30 at Electric Zoo on Randall’s Island in New York City.
Over the past decade the name van Buuren has been known to the EDM world in similar esteem to what Mercedes-Benz is to the automobile industry, what Nike means to athletes, etc; he’s been Alone at the top of the dance music world for several years. Van Buuren was ranked #1 on DJ Magazine’s Top 100 from 2007-2010 and made a Sail back to the top of the list 2012. In 2013 he was ranked #2; it seems that he will reach the #1 spot Yet Another Day.
Not much has been Going Wrong in terms of Armin van Buuren’s career. Since 2001 he’s hosted A State of Trance, an electronic music radio show that catapulted him into the highest of the world’s trance-tastic realms. The radio show has some 20 million weekly listeners across the world, not even counting those who stream it online.
Van Buuren is no stranger to having a bird’s eye view from the top of several music charts. His 2008 album Imagine made Dutch music history, becoming the first dance music album to debut at #1 on the Dutch music charts. His next album, Mirage, debuted at #3 in Holland, as well as #10 in Belgium and #12 in Mexico in 2010. His latest album, the 2013 effort entitled Intense took the #2 spot in its debut in the Netherlands as well as ranking #7 in Poland. Van Buuren has been in Full Focus across the EDM world for over a decade, coming a long way since his first single, Blue Fear, hit the #45 spot in the United Kingdom in 1997. Since then, it’s safe to say it’s been a Beautiful Life for the progressive/uplifting trance icon from a tiny village in South Holland (the real South Holland, not SoHo in Manhattan).
Van Buuren recently released A State of Trance Classics, Vol. 9, now available on iTunes. The album features the most beloved dance tracks from over the years, chosen entirely by the collective opinion of his fanbase. Congress should take note — a group of 20 million fans across over 70 countries produced some wonderful results. The compilation also features BT, Cosmic Gate, Dash Berlin, Paul van Dyk and W&W — all fellow artists who are set to make Electric Zoo 2014 outshine Times Square in NYC, this Labor Day Weekend.
You can catch Armin van Buuren at Electric Zoo this Labor Day Weekend at Randall’s Island Park in New York City, but if you miss him there, his consistently breathtaking music isn’t very hard to find.
