The Art of Music with DJ Muggs & Co.
DJ Muggs, the founder and man behind the decks of the group Cypress Hill, has enjoyed the success of numerous platinum records and a high cult-like following (no pun intended…maybe) from both pot heads and party people alike. But while the hay day of Cypress Hill has long been passed, DJ Muggs has certainly carried on.
Like most true artists, Muggs kept the stone rolling by moving on to his next big project, Cross My Heart Hope To Die. This group isn’t simply a music group; it is part of a bigger project that combines the magic of discovering new music, cinematic art and dark down-tempo tracks. Leading the art and outside the box thinking wing is computer wiz and curator Sean Bonner, coming through with the powerfully poetic vocals is Brevi, and last but certainly not least is co-producer and guitar player Andrew Kline.
The group’s most recent release from their upcoming EP, Vita E Morte, “Tears of God,” feels like a dark, devious, mysterious & powerful marching tune. “Tears of God” carries a uniquely eerie vibe, and one cannot help but get chills when listening. The true treat on this particular track is Brevi’s ability to gingerly flow along with the beats. Her delivery is so smooth and graceful one could say it’s elegant. The drums and bass are hypnotizing almost to the point where the evil and resentment are palpable. If the rest of Vita E Morte is as good as this tune, the wait will be well worth it.
