Artist Spotlight: FiKus at Farm Fest Music & Arts Festival
FiKus is a rising five piece band hailing from northern New Jersey. Although they are relatively new band, FiKus has already displayed an unprecedented ability to span a diverse range of styles and genres, often leading to the creation of make-shift descriptors such as “electro-funkadelic hip-rock.” Drawing on wide ranging influences from Primus to Dr. Dre, this band’s versatility paired with their solid musicianship has earned them coveted supporting slots and festival sets over the past few years. Whether its jazzy interludes, jam infused electro-soul and funk or unexpected styles of rock, FiKus consistently brings a cornucopia of surprises to their attention grabbing sets.
“FiKus combines progressive melodies with infectious grooves, electronic beats, and edgy vocals. They craft songs which invoke rock, funk, soul, dance, and jazz, all the while holding onto a recognizable sound of their own. While no two live shows are the same, you can always count on tight jams, anthemic choruses, a high energy dance floor and top notch light production. Still a young band, their songwriting skills and catalogue depth provide fans access to a universe of music which is both mature sounding and fresh.” (SOURCE: FiKus Facebook)
One of the most attractive things about FiKus is their fun, carefree demeanor. They bring an element of humor that is often missing from the higher echelons of the jam music and their commanding stage presence ensures a pleasant balance between familiarity and intensity. They may not take themselves that seriously, but their rockingly epic jams and interludes are meticulously seasoned and composed.
FiKus recently dropped the music video for “Daycrawler” which will appear on their new full-length album “Living Life Through Multicolored Scenery,” coming July 1st, check it out below.
