Two Artists You Cannot Miss At AURA 2015
With AURA‘s schedule coming out next week, I’m stoked to peep some slot times! Between great friends and great artists taking the stage in March, it’s going to be a weekend-long hustle to witness all the spectacular acts. You can’t go wrong catching any of the headliners, so I want to take a few moments guiding you in the right direction as we read farther down the lineup.
Turbo Suit, formerly Cosby Sweater, comes into 2015 with a national winter tour, a new name, and a new album, Out Here, slated for release this Spring. In their interview below, they speak on leveling up from a new band name to a more developed sound. I got to witness this proclamation in the flesh in Chicago at the Concord Music Hall a few weeks ago. They have indeed raised the bar. If you consider yourself a fan of, as the band promptly states, “sensual sax melodies and ultra-accessible beats”, I highly recommend boogying with these three.
A late addition to the lineup, Lucky Costello brings a southern (only by location) interpretation to the high energy jamtronica genre. In 2014, bassist Jeff Raimondo was added to the original three-piece and the band musically matured overnight. Whether they play a mid-day opener or a late night set, there is not doubt in my mind the heat will be brought. Hell, they could play a 9am breakfast set and I would be there raging my bacon and eggs. On second thought, am I on to something here? If you’d like a little sneak preview of what they have in store for us, check out the video below from Blackwater Music Festival last year; or, visit their Soundcloud to stream some live recordings from 2014.
