X Games Austin Is Packing the Summer Heat With More than Just Sports
Austin, Texas is proving itself to be in the running for the city that never stops partying. With an onslaught of festivals and event coming this city’s way through the summer, they’re packing in the heat with the Summer X Games Austin. This is the first time the X Games will be making an appearance to the Lone Start state, normally being held in Los Angeles. The venue change is calling all sorts of attention – so the games are going for a no holds bar event that’ll take the city by storm.
So come down South for the sports – but y’all better stay for the party! All weekend from June 6th to the 8th, along with the sports, the X Games are holding a music and activities festival to keep the celebration going. It is shapin’ up to be insanity and is accessible for anyone who purchases a GA wristband. The X Games are really giving their fans a treat.
The lineup for this fest has got to be one of the most impressive artists for a non-music main event we’ve seen in a long time. To the roster is the likes of Kanye West, Pretty Lights, The Flaming Lips, Mac Miller, Slightly Stoopid, Bad Religion, Gary Clark Jr., Dillon Frances, Mayer Hawthorne, Cash Cash, and many more live performances at the world class Austin360 Amphitheater, as well as other stages in the EDM Tent and X Silent Disco.
Alongside the music, the activities happening throughout the festival have got everything that’ll fuel any fan’s thirst for a bad ass time. A Texas Ranch that provides all Texas aficionados with all things Texan, including an authentic saloon, mechanical bull ride, Austin eats, and local vendors and artists. The ESPN Clubhouse brings the fans close to the major league arena with pop-up sports bars featuring massive HDTVs, food and drink beyond your heart’s content, and some classic games, fit for the family and friends. The Galleria houses the central retail hub that features a fashion stage, kick ass graffiti art on walls, a movie theater, the X Games museum (true fans don’t want to miss this), even more vendor shops, and food court.
So you wanna get your hands down and dirty? X Games has got you covered with games and activities that’ll blow you through the roof. This includes an event called Ride the Track – an opportunity to show ‘em what you’ve got by shredding the racetrack and proving you’re more than just a fan who watches the tube. Game Town houses the best of the ultimate best gamers, battling it out for the X Games gold in Major League Gamine’s national showdown, in a playpen that’ll make any tech geek melt their seats. The Garage has got you covered on your need for speed with kart racing, RC cars, racing simulators, and all things zero to sixty in a matter of seconds. The Green Planet takes a spin on normal gaming, making it environmentally safe to have a killer time by getting you to spin on a life-size hamster wheel, riding on energy bikes, and exploring recycling and green initiatives (X Games loves nature as much as they love shredding up nature’s mulch!). The fun is endless in the Playground with zip line challenges, dodge ball, mini golf, and even caters to younger kids at the climbing wall, king of the hill, cool-down water zone, and plenty more games that’ll fill that little kid heart of yours.
The X Games in Austin is brag-worthy, and will leave any person who doesn’t go in ultimate envy for years to come. With an assault of action-packed extreme sports to the added kick ass festival, the summer down in Texas sure ain’t keeping it cool.
