Barclay Crenshaw at Chicago’s Double Door [2/4/2017]
Barclay Crenshaw has a debut album coming out January 27th that is inspired by the unknown beings in the universe (and the sounds they might make). With a short bio on his Facebook page that reads, “My fake name is Claude VonStroke,” Barclay Crenshaw has been working backward and making moves as his true self.
Most people start making music without an alias in mind and eventually find or choose a catchy stage name to suit their creations. It seems Barclay Crenshaw decided to go the way of some fiction authors by trying things out as someone else, then going with the flow. Perhaps he didn’t think his given name was catchy enough, we think it’s pretty far out. Crenshaw has created a huge following as Claude VonStroke, the king of the Dirtybird Record Label. While his new music seems to echo VonStroke, there is a space-inspired ambient texture to Crenshaw that holds unique to something we’ve yet to hear.
This superstar-turned-up-and-comer is out on tour in support of his debut album, and he’s hitting up Chicago’s Double Door February 4th. You can find tickets here and his full tour schedule below.
