BB King Dies Aged 89
BB King has died at age 89 in Las Vegas, according to his attorney. The 89-year-old bluesman has publicly battled Type II diabetes for over 20 years and has a history of falling ill while on tour. Last year, King was diagnosed with exhaustion and dehydration following his House of Blues show in Chicago, forcing eight future shows on the tour to be cancelled.
On September 16, 1925 near Itta Bena Mississippi, the world was introduced to a future king: The King of Blues, Riley B. King. His monumental career includes over 65 years of touring, a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 1987, and over 50 studio album releases. King holds the most Grammy wins in the blues genre with a total of 15 and was awarded a Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1987. Rolling Stoneand Gibson have also named him on of the Top Guitar Players of All Time.
