Big Gigantic Brings Their Winter 2013 Tour to Philadelphia
On Friday, February 22 Big Gigantic will return to Philadelphia with some new tricks up their sleeves. The duo will no doubt turn the Electric Factory into an all-out dance party with both new visuals and new music.
Their recently launched Winter 2013 Tour features a new light rig incorporating over a dozen rounded LED panels which surround saxophonist Dominic Lalli and drummer Jeremy Salken. Judging by the photographs taken during the first week of the tour, the show should be visually spectacular.
The band released their last album, Nocturnal, in January 2012. While there has been no news of a new album release in the near future, Big Gigantic has put out new tracks over the past several months, including “Colorado Mountain High” and “Let’s Go!” as well as a collaboration with GRiZ called “Power.”
The collaboration, like much of Big Gigantic’s recent releases, showcases the band’s current proclivity for incorporating dub step heavily into their music. One can trace this trend back to the most recent album and perhaps farther. Though this recent focus has gained the band mass appeal, some long-time fans have used the band’s facebook page as a vehicle for requesting a return to some of their older material during this tour. Hopefully the set performed later this month will satisfy both old fans and new. Tickets may be purchased through Ticketmaster here. The show will include opening acts Kill Paris and Space Jesus.
Dom, Jeremy: “Step Up” and take Philly “Sky High” for some “Lucid Dreams.” This city needs some sexy saxin’, old-school Big Gigantic.
