Bitter’s Kiss’ Ballad “Love Won’t Make You Cry” Is A Sweet Winter Surprise
Every once in a while it’s good to step out of your comfort zone. If for no other reason it allows you to reset your palette and allow your ears a chance to feast on something new. Also I love having the opportunity to discover fresh, local and undiscovered talent before they blow up. So when the new single by Bitter’s Kiss came across my inbox I perked up and took notice. “Love Won’t Make You Cry” is certainly a left turn from the bass heavy tunes I usually listen to, but the pure voice of singer Chloe Baker really caught my attention.
Baker is the leaf singer of Bitter’s Kiss and the New Jersey native certainly has something special. With her angelic voice and honest lyrics, Baker brings this tune to life. Her sincerity rings vibrantly through the minimalist, even melancholy instrumentation, resulting in an eerily infectious tune. The single’s heartfelt video, follows a classic black and white journey through the streets of Paris. As two star-crossed lovers seek to resolve their differences, Baker’s haunting lyrics bubble in the background. The video’s particularly forlorn ending leaves on a bittersweet note.
With a self titled album already out, Bitter’s Kiss is looking to take things to the next level. Baker’s voice will certainly take her places and I’m happy I had the chance to check out her lovely work firsthand. I would love to hear her captivating vocals overlaid on top of a smooth liquid drum and bass, or perhaps applying the gloss on a nasty dubstep tune. Producers take note, Chloe Baker of Bitter’s Kiss has a bright future you should be a part of.
