Biweekly Playlist: Game All Night
Welcome back to another edition of Sensible Reason’s biweekly playlist! This week’s selection was inspired by the LAN party my boyfriend is holding this weekend. In honor of the craziness that is 12 guys — plus or minus a girl or two — sitting in front of insane, custom-built computer setups for the better part of 24 consecutive hours, I decided to name our newest playlist “Game All Night.”
So what can be found on a gamer mix? We’ve got the TomorrowLand anthem, “Waves” from Dimiti Vegas & Like Mike vs W&W, a double dose of DVBBS with the original mix of “We Were Young,” as well as the Elephante remix of his collaboration with Sander Van Doorn and Martin Garrix, “Gold Skies.”
Also making the cut is a bunch of remixes, reworks, and bootlegs — like the Cadence rework of deadmau5’s “Carbon Cookie,” Paris Blohm’s remix of the Seven Lions and Myon & Shane 54’s addicting track, “Strangers,” and the OOVEE bootleg of “Vassy,” originally by David Guetta and Showtek. All these tracks follow the big-name video game trend. Similar to Bioshock: Infinite, and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, the originals were good, possibly even great, but the reworked sequels are even better.
Representing the women of electronic music — and the first girls to ever RSVP for the annual DLP Gaming Summer LAN — is Grimes with her track, “Go,” which also features Blood Diamonds. Add in a bit of “Real Life” courtesy of TST, Moguai, and Amba Shepherd, as well as the Levito remix of Passenger’s “Let Her Go,” and we’ve almost got a complete mix to play on repeat into the wee hours of the morning.
When making a playlist for a bunch of guys who were fans of electronic music before it was known as EDM, there is one group of legends that must be on there — Above & Beyond. Of course, something off of Group Therapy is always a solid choice, but an OceanLab track is even better. Ilan Bluestone’s remix of “Satellite” has been a personal favorite of mine since Anjunabeats Volume 11 came out in June, and it just so happened to be the perfect finishing track on this week’s playlist.
Whether you’re planning to spend your Saturday outside in the fresh air, or indoors in front of a computer screen, “Game All Night” is sure to make the perfect soundtrack to whatever shenanigans you and your crew get into. Happy gaming! If you’re looking for more tunes from Sensible Reason, check out our previous playlist Summer Sun!
