The Black Madonna Delves into Disco with “He Is The Voice I Hear”
Chicago-based musician and disco goddess The Black Madonna has just released her first project since 2013, a collaborative work between her and studio partner Rupert Murray entitled “He Is The Voice I Hear“. Although she may have been seemingly stagnant the last couple of years, this new masterpiece proves that TBM has just been cooped up in the beat kitchen, whipping up some tasty treats for her many fans and followers.
In “He Is The Voice I Hear”, TBM achieves an organic sound with the help of live strings and keyboard, courtesy of Davide Rossi and Christoforo LaBarbera. Sensual, velvety keys are energized with a classic disco melody; cascading violin and chopped-up beats give this feel-good number a decadent bounce, and funky breakdowns freshen this groove up.
“I have always felt, where making records was concerned, that it was better to say nothing than to rush and put out a lot of music that didn’t say much at all. But now it’s time to share something with you that has been the most exciting project I’ve ever worked on. “He Is The Voice I Hear” is my first all new work since Lady Of Sorrows.” It’s been a long journey from there to here. I’m so thrilled to continue the story and finally realize my dream of bringing together an ensemble of live musicians.”

The Black Madonna built her foundation in Chicago whilst acting as talent buyer for the city’s famous electronic/underground club Smart Bar. A skilled technician behind the decks, she started to pick up a following for her dynamic and fluent sets which span from disco to techno and back again. She has become a prolific DJ internationally, and was even the first woman to grace the cover of Mixmag as their DJ Of The Year.
