Bone Thugs ‘N Harmony comes to Tucson’s Rialto Theater
Scrolling through Facebook on a lazy Sunday morning I was overjoyed to see the event page for this show at the Rialto. Hip-hop group, Bone Thugs ‘N Harmony, will be making their way to the heart of southern Arizona on December 17th. Growing up in New York in the early 90’s, Bone Thugs were always a staple in my Napster (or Limewire) library with their raw lyrics and dope beats; they got me through some tough times.
Bone Thugs ‘N Harmony consists of five members: Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone, Layzie Bone, Krayzie Bone, and Flesh and Bone. They got their starts in Cleveland, Ohio in ’91. Bridging a west coast – east coast gap, Eazy-E signed them to Ruthless Records in 1993. The debut EP, Creepin’ on ah Come Up, was a hit — especially the single “Thuggish Ruggish Bone”.
Since the ’90’s which, woah, twenty years flew by, Bone Thugs ‘N Harmony is still going strong. In 2017, Krayzie and Bizzy announced that they would be releasing a duet album, New Waves, which featured Stephen Marley. And even more, recently announced a new album as the full group. Which has resulted in them coming to Tucson, Arizona.
I’ve never seen them live, though the song “I tried” got me through a good portion of my teenage years. Talking to a good friend who has seen them, assured me that it was one of the best shows that she has ever been to. Which I can only imagine is true. So, if you’re in the Tucson area on December 17th come on down to the Rialto Theater for a night of hip-hop and dancing.
