Camp Bisco Crusaders: Minnesota Artist Spotlight
Bisco is all on the brain lately for those waiting to return home and newcomers alike – “home” being the beautiful struggle that is Montage Mountain, located in Scranton, PA. July 13-15 will mark another iteration of one of the longest standing staples within the electronic music festival scene, and Camp Bisco has some stellar talent lined up for us yet again. The Disco Biscuits, a jam band with heavy electronic influences and impressive improvisation, will crush a solid 6 sets as the festival’s favorite hosts – a tradition that has been standard since Bisco’s inaugural year. Veterans such as heavy hitter Bassnectar and the lively Lotus will be in attendance, as well as Pretty Lights live band (who strutted their stuff at Bisco 2015), funkmaster flex GRiZ, Gramatik, and so many more.
This weeks artist spotlight goes by the name of Minnesota – and no, we’re not talking about the landmark associated with the Twin Cities. As a Minneapolis native residing in Berkeley, CA, Christian Bauhofer can be accredited for being an imminent instrument of putting futuristic bass music on the map since taking his first steps into the scene years ago. Minnesota’s first two EPs, Panda Snatching Tycoon and Ancient Machines garnered him some relevant recognition from collectives and labels spanning coast-to-coast, and from those moments on, electronic music would never be the same.
Fast-forward to hit singles like “Stardust” and “Relax” and you’ll understand the diversity and creativity that represents the concept of Minnesota. From high-energy dubstep and uptempo bangers to melodic mesmerizers and even some tribalistic, trippy trap, Bauhofer has all the bass-es loaded.
After years of touring, today Minnesota has seen the vast majority of the country and performed at some of the nation’s largest music festivals including Mysteryland, Ultra Music Festival, Camp Bisco and more, and has quite an array of supporting acts for artists and bands such as STS9, Gramatik, Big Gigantic, MiMOSA and many, many more.
Continuously defying the boundaries of future bass music, Minnesota has recently been delving headfirst into more emotionally-heightened projects recently, such as his recent single “Another Night”, featuring the colorful chords of Karra.
