Candice DeBébé’s Incredibly Trick Lifestyle
Do you ever make those purchases while drunk and when you come to, you regret that decision? I feel that way about purchasing Candice DeBébé’s Incredibly Trick Lifestyle — except I was completely sober when I made that decision. Despite my initial misgivings about purchasing it, I must admit it was a pretty fun playthrough. You star as the titular character who occasionally breaks the fourth wall by mentioning she’s like in a video game on a quest to level up and control her bitchy witchy powers. This RPG sets you off on a whimsical journey that includes mermaids, treachery, funky fresh rhymes and TanVan!
The very beginning of the game drew me in — Candice DeBébé lives in a trailer park and is sent on a quest by one of her friends to collect some TanVan so they can maintain their glorious orange glow. While traversing through the nearby forest and defeating a giant beetle, Candice returns to find the trailer park under attack by sexy ghosts. After defeating those undead ghouls with luscious lips, the true antagonist enters the picture — the great songstress Krystal! Krystal has made it her mission to steal Brandi and Candice’s TanVan — which she manages to do after Candice faints during battle. Resolving to smash that pop bitch rank skeg skank slag Krystal, Candice takes to the world to defeat her new nemesis.
Whether the game is a statement on the video game industry remains to be seen. Maybe it’s commentary on how Steam will allow anything on its store — though I must say, Candice DeBébé’s Incredibly Trick Lifestyle actually had substance and a somewhat defined plot. I also have to commend the soundtrack — it has me genuinely invested in its emotive lyrical depth. Aware that it’s a bad game, I absolutely enjoy it — it’s something new and interesting and encompasses its own self-awareness that I have yet to see in other video games.
