Check Out Classic Album Sundays At Baby’s All Right In Brooklyn !
Is there any better way to spend your lazy Sundays than immersing yourself in the musical genius of artists who have helped weave the very fabric of contemporary culture, like Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Herbie Hancock, Nile Rodgers and Quincy Jones? When was the last time you sat down and really listened to an album all the way through from beginning to end and dissected it in all of it’s glory? Can you recall the last time you even listened to music without texting on your phone or multi-tasking on the interntet? It’s probably been quite some time since you did any of these things, I know it’s been a while for me. Classic Album Sundays began as a way to slow ourselves down and promote the active listening of classic records that all true music lovers should appreciate.
Classic Album Sundays is like a monthly global book club where musical enthusiasts in London, New York, Glasgow, Tokyo, Portland, Boston and more can come together to take a journey through time and sound together. The way the sessions work is the first few hours whilst people chat, eat and drink a ‘musical lead up’ is played consisting of singles that relate to the album in order to show what the artist did before the album, what their contemporaries were up to, what was influencing them at the time in order to give a temporal context. After that a short anecdotal presentation is given to explain how the record came to be and why it is significant. After that everyone is asked to turn off their phones so that no one is distracted and the music can truly take center stage. This is a phenomenal way to promote active and thoughtful listening. Each session is curated with top of the line Hi-fi turntable, amps and speakers. Whether you are a vinyl junkie and just love listening to old records or you just want to leisurely enjoy some great music with some great company, Classic Album Sundays is an amazing way to refocus yourself and nourish your musical needs.
This Sunday Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn will be hosting a session of Classic Album Sundays which will feature Neil Young’s Harvest. You can grab your tickets for this inexpensive and intimate event here.
