Two years ago, we sat down with Porn and Chicken and got to know the group as a collective being. Their unique brand and their parties have officially gone worldwide. Recently being signed to a label, this crew is bound for greatness. We caught up with the wild bunch at Spring Awakening Music Festival to see what they’ve been up to and what is in store for Porn and Chicken.

SR: How are you guys doing? It’s been a little while.

Dom: Good to see you.

SR: What have you been up to these past two years?

Dom: Just working away. Trying to keep up with the music and keep our party going, keep touring and keep hitting other cities. Hard at the grind.

SR: So, you guys have expanded things beyond evilOlive?

Dom: We’re pretty much doing more of the same.

Orville: Yeah, just a bigger scale.

Dom: We were making music then, but now we’ve got some massive collabs with popular names. We’re doing shows, but we’ve got our formula down and our parties are poppin’ super hard. We’ve still got our party but we’re bringing in world renowned DJs.

Orville: Every week this summer pretty much.

Dom: It’s just everything…better.

SR: Who are you most excited to bring through?

Dom: Ghastly on Monday, definitely. I’m excited for Carter Cruise. She fits our party so well, it’s like niche, it’s perfect. We don’t want to tell too much… [laughs]

SR: You can tell me whatever you want, I’ll listen.

Fei: Of course, we’ve got a lot of local up-and-comers, we want to foster that as well and give them that platform as well is really rewarding for us.

SR: You guys were recently signed to Gravedancer, correct?

Dom: Yeah! You know, Eric is amazing. We’re on a really awesome roster with some great people. It’s great to finally be on a roster and to have someone in our corner. He’s building out our EP to chop it to some major labels so it feels really good to be on the right track and not just turning the wheels for ourselves constantly. It’s dope, we’re with our brothers, it’s nice to be amongst people who are working hard like we are.

SR: Are there any new expectations that you’re not totally prepared for?

Dom: I think we’ve been prepared for this. It’s finally nice to have somebody cracking the whip, like “You guys need to have this EP done, you need to work with these people.” But we’ve been ready for it, so I wouldn’t say it’s anything we weren’t ready for.

SR: Are you trying to expand the brand beyond Chicago? I know you guys tour all over.

Orville: Yeah, we’ve hit every major city and we did Tokyo once, we’re just looking to do bigger parties in other cities and not just jumping in to play at one venue, but that we’re doing satellite parties. “Porn N’ Chicken Cincinnati or Denver or Vegas”

Ammo: “Porn N’ Chicken New Orleans”

Dom: Yes! We love New Orleans

SR: Spring Awakening has changed. How do you feel about it?

Dom: Has it? I think it’s just changed locations

Orville: It’s become more intimate.

Ammo: I like it.

Orville: The production and sound and everything is still there.

Dom: Coming from someone that works closely with React; it is a new grounds, but it’s still our 5th year throwing the festival. So, it’s still the same Spring Awakening, we’re still snapping the way that we would if we were in Soldier Field. The production is still at 5 years, the experience is still at the 5th year, you know what I mean? It’s just new grounds, and I feel like we laid this out the best that we could and it worked out, it looks good. From an artist standpoint, I think it’s great.

SR: It’s much easier to get around

Dom: It is.

SR: Who are you most excited for this weekend…aside from yourselves of course?

Dom: I’m excited for the Trap House, I’m excited for How We Doin’, Good Sex, Zebo, Light em Up, Hexes, Dani Deahl. I’m excited for Chicago’s artists to be playing. We get to see these guys everywhere, but it’s good to see Chicago’s locals on these main stages and the support because everyone deserves it.

SR: Very true. So, how many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop?

Dom: That’s questionable, everybody’s Tootsie Pop is different.

SR: Are we talking flavor, size?

Ammo: Texture

Orville: The tongue.

Dom: There’s a lot of variables involved…but ultimately I think it’s three?

SR: I believe I’ve heard that.

[Then, all of us in unison went “A-One, A-Twohoo, A-Three Crunch”]

SR: Can you each go around and tell me your worst sexual experience?

Dom: Oh God! Every time I have sex! It’s good for me, bad for them. I’d say all my sexual experiences are good, but I feel like for my partner it would be the worst.

Fei: Damn, I don’t know… I’d have to say getting caught on the quad in college, right in front of the alma mater.

Orville: I don’t have one. It’s hard to find a bad slice of pizza.

SR: I understand that reference. Even when it’s bad, it’s still good.

Ammo: I’ve got one. My first lesbian experience with my girlfriend when we were like 16 or 17. We were drunk and doing it under her family’s dining room table? We dipped into the liquor when we shouldn’t have and we got really wasted and she started to have some lesbian guilt. I was like ready for the fucking team like “Let’s do this!” and I ate her out and she started feeling really sick and started throwing up and she started crying and she kicked me out of the bedroom. And the next morning we woke up and she said “We are never going to talk about this again!” 10 years later she’s got a baby hanging off her titty and she’s breast feeding telling me, “Remember that time that we fucked?” I was like….ooo child, but that’s how women are!

The perfect ending to a semi-professional interview. We can’t wait to see what Porn and Chicken will bring to the table for the rest of their Monday night parties. Hopefully these guys can continue to expand their brand (and their infamous parties) so you can check out a Porn and Chicken party in a city near you. We can’t wait to see what their latest ventures will bring to the table, and we hope that they can recover from whatever traumatic sexual experiences they may have endured in the past.
