Chicago’s the MID Closing its Doors February 2019
It is with a heavy heart that it was announced today that one of the staples of the Chicago nightlife scene will close it’s doors early next year. Since the MID in downtown Chicago opened in 2010, the venue hosted DJs/producers, singers, rappers, and bands from around the world. The venue hosted every genre one could dance to and did it with style. Hosting the likes of Calvin Harris, Kaskade, Tommy Trash, Adam Beyer, Derrick Carter, Green Velvet, Laurent Garnier, Ice Cube, Skrillex and more, everyone was invited to the intimate stage at the MID. In 2013, DJ Mag ranked the MID at #40 in the world and included the club in their “Top 100” club list for three years overall.
“Throughout the years, the MID has produced some of the most memorable nights in Chicago nightlife — The Blackhawks celebrated their Stanley Cup Championship with a special performance by Tiesto, legendary DJs/producers Dubfire and Sharam reunited to perform as Deep Dish for the first time in years, Claude Von Stroke and Green Velvet played a special back-to-back set that resulted in the supergroup known today as Get Real, a special B2B with Skrillex, Diplo and Hardwell during one of the many Lollapalooza after parties, in addition to Skrillex’s first ever Chicago show — just to name a few.”
“Unfortunately, the time has come where the MID’s doors will be closing on February 5, 2019. These last remaining months will be a celebration of the past and a toast to the future. We want to thank all the fans, artists, employees, agents, managers, and promoters who have supported us throughout this era. As a token of our appreciation, we are putting together some very special events leading up to that “One Last Song.” It’s been an incredible run to say the least but now it’s time to turn the page as we raise our glasses to what will be the end of an era, and the beginning of our next chapter.” – Lucas King and Nick Karounos
