Ckrono & Slesh Deliver Fresh Global Dance Vibes With ‘Kayapo’
With Buraka Som Sistema recently closing the door on their epic 10 year career, the genre of global dance music will need new and exciting artists to carry the banner once hoisted by the Lisbon based outfit. Enter the dynamic duo of Ckrono & Slesh, an Italian DJ and Producer tandem poised to make a massive splash with their latest EP, Kayapo. These two Italians have quite the talent for melding a wide array of musical dialects into a delectably dark and uniquely visceral amalgamation of dance and tribal music. By blending UK funky, Afro house, baile funk and trap in a bold yet suave manner, Ckrono & Slesh have certainly caught our eye as one of the freshest acts to look out for in 2016. Kayapo is currently out now via the duo’s Voodoo Rebel imprint, and you can check it out below.
The beauty of global bass music is its tendency to take starkly contrasting sounds and combine them into new and mind altering partnerships; therefore, it’s perfectly apt that Ckrono & Slesh joined forces to create such an organic chemistry in the studio. With Ckrono being the first Italian moombahton producer and Slesh being one of the first jungle DJs in Italy, the duo’s eclectic sound drips with the confidence of two enigmatic innovators.
Soaked in the murky, low-end angst of UK dubstep and accented with the vibrant bravado of African house, Ckrono & Slesh infuse Kayapo with a sensational musical identity. From the sinister, bass driven banger “Stonedato“, to the hypnotizing and deliciously funky ballads “Ciudad” and “Sundamentally,” Kayapo hits your speakers with a composed intensity that can not be ignored. The EP rounds out with the trap-leaning “Goldfishing” and hip-hop laced “Vodka Tonic“.
Kayapo is one of the most unique releases of 2016 so far. Full of tracks made for dancing in the club or even just driving to work, Ckrono & Slesh prove they have a huge arsenal of sonic skills.
