Counterpoint 2015 Must See Artist: Chet Faker
One of the best albums to hit 2014 was Built On Glass, the debut studio album from rising phenomenon Chet Faker. Born and raised in Melbourne Australia, Chet Faker is now a Brooklyn based songwriter, producer and singer who is garnering quite the global following. Faker’s holistic approach to music infuses his songs with an organic and heartfelt quality that is truly infectious. Existing in a space between R&B crooner and experimental electronica producer, Chet distinguishes himself as an artist that is truly standing alone in the world of dance music. When you sit back and listen to Built On Glass you find yourself lost beneath the layers of romanticized lyrics and meticulously constructed beats. Chet is an artist whose every song seems to come from a very personal and intimate location. It is this type of artistry that truly gives me hope for the future of dance music.
Evidence of Chet’s talents abound. He recently added a third night to his shows at New York City’s Terminal 5, set for Saturday, April 4 with special guest XXYYXX. His previously announced shows at Terminal 5 on April 7 & 8 each sold out in a few short days. His April 15 headline show at Los Angeles’ Club Nokia—taking place between his two Coachella weekend performances—also sold out quickly, this time in minutes rather than days. 2015 is gearing up to be a huge year for this wildly talented Aussie and his performance at Counterpoint this year is sure to be a highlight of your summer. Be sure to make your way down to Atlanta for Counterpoint 2015 and be sure not to miss Chet Faker when he takes the stage.
