CounterPoint music festival– being held right outside Atlanta, Georgia– is right around the corner. With a stacked line up of some of the best electronic acts around, this is one festival you do not want to miss! One band in particular you do not want to miss out on is Lotus.
Lotus started out in Indiana in 1999 with Mike Greenfield (Drums), Jesse Miller (Bass/Sampler), Luke Miller (Guitar/Keys) and Mike Rempel (Guitar). In 2001 they added Chuck Morris (Percussion). Since moving to Philadelphia, they have exploded onto the scene. Their musical style gels into several genres– Rock, Electronica, Jamband, and Electro– and draws everyone into Lotus’ one of a kind dance parties!
The last time I saw Lotus was back in 2009 at The Howlin Wolf late night for New Orleans Jazz Fest. So when I saw that they were playing a set at Camp Bisco, I circled and starred it on my schedule. Let me tell you, I was so glad I did not miss it! One of my favorite sets of the weekend, the explosiveness of their energy was unreal and flowed with ease throughout. Their weaving in and out of ever-so-diverse styles was done like slicing through funky electronic psychedelic budda that left my body movin’ and mind groovin’ all night. Their CounterPoint set is surely not one to be missed!
