Devault Releases Full Ruby EP + Three Part Visual Project via Insomniac Records
The world may have come to somewhat of a halt but thankfully we have new dope music to get us through these times. Truly fitting with the current zeitgeist, Devault has brought another groundbreaking installment of his innovative audiovisual series with the release of his full Ruby EP. Accompanied by a three-part visual element via Insomniac Records, Ruby is the third installment of Devault’s intriguing masterwork, following the prior releases of Sapphire and Jade.
With his prior two releases, Jade and Sapphire, invoking gritty and even nostalgic overtones, Ruby charts a new course firmly fixated on the future. A sublime collision of hard-hitting industrial techno and sumptuous 80’s inspired vocals, Ruby is a dynamic sonic rollercoaster that keeps listeners guessing between hills and valleys.
Featuring collaborations with The Bloody Beetroots and Power Glove, Ruby captures the true sonic nature of Devault and his world. Rife with ominous darkness, coiled tension, and euphoric release, Ruby is a truly engrossing artistic expression, perfect for parsing through the emotions of these bizarre times. Equal parts introspective sonic journey and stress relieving escape, Ruby checks all the boxes for a compelling and much needed sonic tonic.
Devault says, “Ruby to me is full plunge into the world I’ve always wanted to rest in. This dark soundscape accompanied by an over-dramatic film piece is something I’ve had in my head for a very long time, but could never find the perfect timing. The songs are mature, but hold nothing back, and I think that will be seen as you hear each record.”
Ruby altogether is 6 songs accompanied by a 10-minute short film divided into 3 episodes. Throughout the EP each track builds on the last and with the culmination of the project’s visual component, Devault’s bold vision comes to life.
