DJ Collab House On Mute Keeps Underground House Fresh in NYC
In a massive warehouse apartment in Brooklyn, full of hula hoops, aerial silks, DJ equipment, and comfy beanbag chairs, the movie House was being played on the TV with the sound off. Someone comes by and asks, “Hey, what are you watching?” “Oh, that’s House on mute.” Light bulb moment. House On Mute is born.
House On Mute is a collaborative of house DJs– real house– who throw parties at a range of locations, from upscale Manhattan nightclubs to grungy warehouses in Brooklyn. According to one of the founders, Adam Collins, “House On Mute is me [Adam Collins], Abraham Othwell and Cry Baby. Basically we throw damn good parties around Manhattan and Brooklyn which occasionally includes the private loft or sex party (true story).” Besides parties they throw in quirky locations like restaurants and loft apartments, they also hold a residency at Le Bain and Verboten.
Recently, House On Mute took it away at Sugar Hill restaurant in Brooklyn, complimented by live painting and hooping. On site to record the event was Drew Maloney of Genmotion (music is an Adam Collins original):
This Friday we’re excited to annouce that House On Mute DJs Adam Collins and Cry Baby will be playing as part of the La Lune series at 150 W 25 St. in Manhattan. More info about the event is available here. But first, strap your headphones on and listen here:
