Electric Forest Artist to Watch: Brandon “Taz” Niederauer [interview]
With a festival as prominent as Electric Forest, you wouldn’t expect that someone as young as 16 could be a featured artist on this year’s massive lineup. Taking the stage as lead guitarist of his own band, Brandon “Taz” Niederauer is set to make his debut Electric Forest performance this summer. Despite his young age, this singer, songwriter, and artist has no lack of experience and talent. Brandon has already built himself quite the reputation having played at some of the most renowned festivals and venues around the U.S. and performing with some of the most famous names in music, including members of the Allman Brothers Band, Stevie Nicks, Slash, and Lady Gaga. He has also taken the stage with some familiar Electric Forest veterans such as Galactic, Gary Clark Jr., The Revivalists, Umphrey’s McGee and the front men of Forest, The String Cheese Incident.
We caught up with Brandon to chat about this monumental stop on his festival tour this summer.
Sensible Reason: How does it feel knowing you are one of the youngest artists to be featured on the Electric Forest lineup?
Brandon: I am honored to be asked to play this epic Festival at 16 years old. I also get to expose new fans to my music and my band, and also see all of the great bands on the lineup.
SR: Are there any other artists on the lineup that you would want the chance to play with.. why?
B: I would love to play with String Cheese Incident, Lettuce, Twiddle, Ghost Note, Spafford, Pigeons, Nth Power, Ghost Light…and on and on….I love them all!
SR: How do you prepare to play such a highly-anticipated set? Do you have any pre-show rituals?
B: My band practices our music and incorporates my new music and new covers into the set. The only ritual we have is to huddle up and say a prayer before we walk on stage.
SR: Do you have anything special planned for your Electric Forest set?
B: I don’t want to spoil any surprises, but we always try to have something up our sleeves!
With surprises in store and the endless possibilities at Electric Forest, you’ll want to make room in your schedule to catch this set.
