Enchanted Forest: Environmentally Kind, 5 Senses at a Time
Most music festivals aspire to be green. What sets next weekend’s Enchanted Forest apart from the rest is a holistic view of our eco engagement. Here is a breakdown of Enchanted Forest’s five-senses approach to being in tune with the environment:
Enchanted Forest’s pristine setting in the Mendocino Forest is maintained with encouragement to not only keep all campsites debris-free, but also to leave spaces cleaner than they started. Pro tip: Simplify packing out by ditching all unnecessary packaging before you set out for EF.
Music festivals are, by design, heightened auditory experiences. But there are times when turning it down and tuning out are a gift. Count on EF to go silent overnight all weekend. If you’ve still got some grooving to do, head to a silent disco. Renegade DJs, best to keep the speakers at home.
With California still in the depths of a years-long drought, open fire is prohibited. Fire dancing is limited to invited performers in designated settings. As a result, you can count on clean, smoke-free air throughout the weekend.
The delicious food available at EF will taste even better served on your own plate. Please bring a reusable cup, bowl, and cutlery. Especially important is a refillable water bottle, as single-use water bottles are banned at the event. Think of EF as a backpacking trip with perks and remember that if you pack it in, you must pack it out.
Humans are part of the environment and have the capacity to both enhance and pollute each others’ experiences. EF is known for fostering a community that is intimate, sensual, and consent-based. To foster this culture, Enchanted Forest is alcohol-free and there are daily workshops focusing on engaging with others in ways that are sexy, playful, and respectful.
