A Different Focus: Enchanted Forest’s Alcohol Policy
An alcohol free festival may seem pretty strict to some hard-core festival goers. But, before you dismiss the idea of less drinking, think of it as more of a chance to connect. Enchanted Forest Gathering is traditionally an alcohol free event – encouraging the attendees to delve into an altered state of mind through conversation, music, and the freedom of festival life.
According to the FAQ‘s on Enchanted Forest’s website, there are some updates to the normally dry policy that the festival has been known for. This year, the rules have laxed a bit and alcohol will be allowed in… As long as its enjoyed responsibly. One of the key themes of the festival is balance; “balancing the sacred, sexy, silly, and saucy.” A glass of wine can be sexy, but no need to drink three whole bottles to yourself – Balance.
EFG makes sure to mention that while alcohol is allowed to be enjoyed in moderation, another idea to keep in mind is that of recycling. Glass, plastic, aluminum all can destroy the beautiful land that the festival rests on. Black Oak Ranch is full of Oak trees, and the organizers do their best to make it resemble Fern Gully or a scene out of Princess Mononoke – so make sure to recycle those bottles and keep the Ranch as pristine as it is year round.
What is great about Enchanted Forest is that it allows the attendees to escape into a fairytale world during these chaotic times. The organizers encourage: balance, playfulness, connection, growth, and most importantly fun for the Gathering – festivals, especially intentional ones, create a space for us to disconnect with or without the help of substances – so, this year at Enchanted Forest Gathering: have a drink, hydrate, recycle, dance, and repeat!
