Erich Mrak Gets Wavy With ‘Think About It’
Over the past few years, we have seen an increasing confluence of hip-hop and electronic music. As rap begins to incorporate more electronic influences in its production style we have also seen a wider adoption of hip-hop overtones in dance music, most notably in genres like trip and future bass. However, when it comes to a true marriage of the two musical styles, there are only a few artists who are really trying to seamlessly meld the two. Toronto-based rapper Erich Mrak has his sights set on accomplishing exactly that. With the help of his in-house producer Bento, Mrak is creating his own brand of synth soaked hip-hop that will pique the interest of rap enthusiasts and EDM fans alike. As 2017 begins to unravel, Erich’s debuts his first release of the year, titled “Think About It.” Written by Erich, and produced by Bento, the song displays a new direction with his sound, as it has a laid back feel, mixed with various instrumentation breaks between Erich vocals.
As 2017 begins to unravel, Erich’s debuts his first release of the year. Reminiscent of early Asher Roth, the 21-year-old Mrak skips along this mellow track with a swagger and appeal that is perfectly bolstered by Bento’s aqueous production. With a slew of tracks ready to drop in 2017, Mrak is poised to have himself quite the year. If this Canadian MC can continue to develop his sound and venture further into heady space between hip-hop and EDM, I can certainly see him garnering a following here in the States as well.
