Esperanza Spalding at Large at GroundUP Music Fest
The Snarky Puppy camp has announced some exciting lineup additions to their upcoming GroundUP Music Festival. The festival — headlined by Snarky Puppy — has added the queen of jazz bassists, Esperanza Spalding, to the lineup. According to the GroundUP Music Festival website, Esperanza will be accompanying various artists as an Artist at Large throughout the weekend as well as hosting her own Masterclass.
The first annual GroundUP Music Festival is scheduled to take place February 10-12, 2017 in Miami Beach, FL. The event will bring together artists from the GroundUP family including David Crosby, Charlie Hunter, Banda Magda and The Funky Knuckles, as well as world-renowned artists running the gamut from jazz to folk and everything in between such as Chris Thile, Terence Blanchard, Laura Mvula, The Lee Boys and many more.
In addition to the outstanding lineup, the weekend will include unique artist-led events including a scavenger hunt led by Greek accordionist/vocalist Magda Gianniku, a documentary screening with Brazilian flute and woodwind virtuoso Carlos Malta, and workshops and masterclasses with members of Snarky Puppy and more.
The inaugural event will be an intimate gathering with a maximum of 1500 tickets being sold, and even more announcements, including late night shows, are still to be announced in the coming months, so if you want in on the action do not sleep on purchasing your tickets early. Day passes, as well as hotel accommodations and additional information, can be found on the official GroundUP Music Festival Website.
