F.A.R.M. Fest Artist Preview: Mr. Bill
Electronic glitch-funk master Mr. Bill produces micro-sampled space-age bass, occupying the innovative and bizarre cultural trenches of Australia’s (and now Colorado’s) music scene. This technological funk demands attention and promotes a dynamic kind of complexity that is accessible but still very situated in IDM ideology. The talented producer has a knack for collaboration; he’s worked with the likes of Opiuo, Haywyre, Freddy Todd and has released a collection entitled “The Collaborative Endeavors” for free download. His place on F.A.R.M. Fest’s lineup is part of why this festival is so good at exposing people to new music. Mr. Bill isn’t in the garden state often (or ever?) so don’t miss this chance to see his complex yet rage-worthy set which will surely feature some killer drum and bass. To get more acquainted with the mind of Mr. Bill, check out our recent interview with him.
Besides being a really chill, yet weird dude, Mr. Bill likes to spread the love; he is one of the most prolific producers of Ableton tutorial videos. Recently, Mr. Bill launched The Art of Mr. Bill – Season 3, 10 episodes of video tutorial teaching you how to produce music. For those who have always wanted to learn how to produce electronic music, or if you are a producer who wants to learn some new tricks, this is a great investment. You can download (for extremely affordable prices) individual episodes here or subscribe and become a “Hardcore Abletoner.” In addition, Mr. Bill often releases music on a pay-what-want basis, so head over to his website and check it out!
For some extra entertainment, add Mr. Bill on snapchat. I just saw a snap of him in a bathtub full of fruit loops with penis-faced Anklepants (username: mrbillstunes).
