Reasons to Be Excited About FARM Fest 2016 and Phase 1 Lineup
On July 22 – 25, FARM Fest will hold its 4th annual gathering in Hammonton, NJ. at Paradise Lakes Campground — a secluded woodsy area nested in the state’s Pine Barrens region. They’ve recently released phase 1 of this year’s lineup with headlining slots belonging to Emancipator, The Floozies, Savory, Boombox, and Liquid Stranger. Other musical performances include Manic Focus, Freddy Todd, Ill-Esha, Esseks, and more. Additionally, a wide array of live art, vendors, workshops, and guided conversation seminars will be held amongst some pretty groovetacular landscapes scattered throughout the woodlands of Paradise Lakes. With the initial phase of FARM Fest’s lineup already being more than decent, I can only imagine phase 2 as something worth getting outrageously excited over. According to the festival’s Facebook page, we should be expecting the second wave of artists to be announced any day now.
FARM Fest stands for the Future of Artistic and Revolutionary Minds – and the unique event truly succeeds in going above and beyond when it comes to accurately representing the abbreviated title. But why should one go forward and attend FARM Fest this year? What exactly makes it so great and worthy of your precious time? Why should you be excited? Below is a detailed list containing 4 key reasons as to why FARM Fest sets itself apart from other music festivals, and why you should attend it this summer.
No Competition – FARM Fest Keeps It Simple
Now days, the repetitive news of a “brand new, epic music festival!” going public and releasing its lineup is similar to an old, dusty record stuck on repeat. Am I right? It’s something that we as music enthusiasts and concert goers are so very used to hearing, seeing, and reading about… over and over again. It’s no doubt that music festivals are trending hardcore this day in age more than they ever and as the trend grows larger, it seems that each new music festival tries extra hard to compete with the previous music festival via endless amounts of of in-your-face advertisements clogging your Facebook news feed. It seems that these festivals all have the same goal in mind: being the best in the game. It’s a competition. And to be honest, the constant emerging of new music festivals gets old after a while (at least for me) and it doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.
FARM Fest is different.
It’s different in that it holds a unique energy of its own. For starters, it isn’t very competitive with other festivals. By this I mean that tickets aren’t very expensive when compared to other events and the lineup is much smaller and widely spread out over a 3 day period. In my opinion, FARM Fest holds it’s definition within it’s simplicity – a trait that sets it apart from similar events. It has truly evolved in recent years into something so much bigger and better than just another “brand new, epic music festival!” one might hear about in passing or read on their news feed. It doesn’t get much publicity and most of the festival’s advertising is done by word of mouth or via social media. It’s a simple, more natural festival that flows easily for those attending without much hassle.
It’s A Super Small Festival, And It Works Out Perfectly
FARM Fest is super small. And in my opinion, it’s the size of FARM Fest that might be the primary factor as to why it’s so wonderful. It’s tiny when compared to others of its kind now days – and by tiny, I mean it will literally take you 5-10 minutes to get to your campsite from the main stage and back without having to worry about losing your crew. (Even though we all know that losing your crew is actually a blessing in disguise designed to help you form new friendships with strangers, obviously!) Anyway… your FARMily is guaranteed to be easily spotted at any given time or place due to the smaller festival grounds that are super easy to navigate. Due to easy navigation, there isn’t much pre-planning or organization skills needed in order to fully enjoy yourself.
Less is way more at FARM Fest, and although it may seem little in the literal sense, the small and simple festival grounds make for some pretty lovely benefits. With smaller festival grounds comes smaller roaming areas. With smaller roaming areas comes a fuller, more intimate involvement with everyone and everything around you, allowing you to interact with others more easily. Interacting with others raises the likelihood of forming lasting relationships and friendships, which I think is a necessity when attending a music festival.
Smaller Music Festival = Better Intimate Performances
Because FARM Fest sticks to keeping things small and simple throughout the weekend, it results in more intimate performances. Musicians, performers, and artists alike showcase their sets with the crowd rather than for the crowd. The experience is much more exclusive and underground and intimate. And it’s freakin’ awesome. Additionally, artists and musicians at FARM Fest can often be found outside their performance slots hanging out with fans – vibing and conversing with fellow festival goers whether it’s on the sandy lakeside shores or tucked away in some illuminated geodome between the trees. With more personal space for all in attendance, everyone at FARM Fest is easily able to maintain their own comfortable environment to enjoy the weekend in and share it with others. It’s basically an all-inclusive VIP experience for the price of one cheap general admission ticket. How could you not want that as part of your festival experience?!
Unique Energy, And A Whole Lot Of Passion
FARM Fest’s passionate and transformative 3-day gathering devoted to the free-thinking movement leaves its attendees with a lasting impression. It’s more than a music festival, it’s a wonderful little destination spot where people can collectively share a beautiful experience with one another.
Additionally, the lineup features a bunch of passionate performers; musicians who feel, artists who express deeply, teachers who speak with their entire heart and soul. The communal gathering of FARM Fest celebrates full-bodied creative culture and inspiring displays of conscious living. The distinctive and unique spirit of FARM Fest is always fully present throughout the weekend, each and every year, radiating the liveliness of beautiful like-minded individuals as they come together in hopes for a brighter world. And of course, don’t forget to unleash your inner funky-freak upon arrival right before the weirdness begins.
