Free Events Open to the Public at Moogfest!
Moogfest is right around the corner, and they just keep making this incredibly unique festival all the more appetizing.
Today Moogfest, the Asheville, NC based music and arts festival, has announced its planned free concerts and programming. In the spirit of Moogfest — contrived in the memory of Bob Moog, eclectic inventor and founder of Moog music — the festival will be providing many art installations, music programming and interactive workshops free of charge to the public. The public daytime programming will offer up various installations and performances, workshops and exhibitors from many contributors, such as Clemson School of Architecture, Odd Division and The Media Arts Project. The free nighttime programming will be based on the Broadway Outdoor Stage from Friday to Saturday of the scheduled event, with names like Giorgio Moroder headlining on Friday, Zed’s Dead on Saturday and Fools Gold on Sunday, with various other performers adding their own individual sets.

The Modular Marketplace will host daily demonstrations, workshops and sound experiments from the engineers that are shaping the sounds of tomorrow, as well as a free week-long clinic on electronic music production. All events in the Modular Marketplace are free to the public.
CCCD Gallery will feature 2-4 hour sonic immersion and improvisational experiences:
- On Thursday, Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner and Deerhunter’s Bradford Cox explore sounds solely on Moog pedals.
- On Friday, LCD Soundsystem’s Gavin Russom explores the outer limits of Moog synthesizers.
- On Saturday, Dan Deacon creates new compositions from Moogs across all platforms, from hardware to software, pedals to apps.
- Each performance is enveloped by an immersive visual installation with films, projections and art by Hisham Bharoocha and Jesse Hlebo.
