From NOLA To NYC! Galactic Comes To Terminal 5, 4/13/13
Get ready to get funky, New York! New Orleans music icons Galactic head up north this Saturday, April 13th to bring their jazzy, soulful, hip-hop-laced funk to Terminal 5. If you know anything about this legendary NOLA band, you know it’s all about the live show with them. I’ve had the privilege of seeing them many times, both in NOLA and NY, and they never fall short of amazing. (You know a band who’s best known for an all-night show during the last and craziest night of Mardi Gras has got to be a wild time). Whether you’re a fan of the funk or just down to get down, a Galactic show is where it’s at. Their unique musical style is the perfect balance of party and chill, feel-good music, making it appealing to any lover of good music. It is based in jazz/funk but draws on elements of hip-hop, rock, electronic and blues to create its own unique sound that is best appreciated live. They are also known for bringing on surprise guests, and I can’t wait to see who’s in town this Saturday! Typical guests include Dave Shaw of The Revivalists, Corey Glover
of Living Colour, and Corey Henry of Rebirth Brass Band, but there really are no limits. Scheduled guests Toots and the Maytals will already be a great addition, and I have no doubts that opener Nigel Hall will join on for some killer collaborations as well.
Head over to Terminal 5 this Saturday, April 13th to get down with Galactic; it’s never a question that they will kill it, and definitely a mistake to miss out! Here’s a little sneak peak, from a performance at their home base of Tipitina’s in NOLA:
