Gasparilla Music Festival is a fairly new player in the festival game but with the killer lineup that they dropped this afternoon, the folks over at GMF have proved that they are not messing around. In its 5th year, the 2016 Gasparilla Music Festival is geared up to be its biggest yet. The 2-day festival set in the beautiful Curtis Hixon Park, smack in the middle of downtown Tampa, FL, Gasparilla Music Festival has lined up R&B queen Erykah Badu, Indie Bluegrassers Greensky Bluegrass, Funk/Soul singer Charles Bradley, Talib Kweli, and many more.  Other lineup stand-outs include the Funk/Afrobeat group Antibalas, Kermit Ruffins & the Barbeque Swingers and New Breed Brass Band bring the New Orleans dance party, Portland’s Blitzen Trapper, and local favorites Gumbi Ortiz & New Groove City, Damon Fowler, Serotonic, and Poetry ‘N Lotion, just to name a few. If you are looking for a festival with a little something for everyone, Gasparilla Music Festival is undoubtedly the ticket.

Gasparilla Music Festival’s mission statement is “to nurture and promote the cultural life of the Tampa Bay Area by presenting a spectacular range of inspiring musicians and performers across all genres that leads to greater music awareness, education, and the continuance of the urban renewal of Tampa” with the intent to “utilize the shared, powerful experience of live music to sustain, inspire and encourage a stronger sense of community amongst the diverse elements of Tampa, while embracing Tampa Bay’s heritage and natural beauty.” With this year’s diverse group of artists, I think it is safe to say that they have delivered on their mission.
