Gathering of the Vibes: Family Fun For EVERYONE!
When we think good vibes, the first thing that comes to mind is family and friends. When someone asks us which music festival should be their first, without hesitation we say, “Gathering of the Vibes.” This festival is one of the few festivals that can provide something for EVERYONE. GOTV prides itself on being a family-friendly festival. Kids 12 and under are free when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian!
Located within walking distance of the concert field, the Kids’ Corner & Teen Scene are surrounded by beautiful trees and plenty of green space for fun and relaxation. For the youngins, the Vibes Kids Corner is where it’s happening! 2014 marks the 15th anniversary of Kids’ Corner at the Vibes. Led by Gabrielle Fugere and Andy “The Music Man” Morse, we promise you, your children will never be bored. Kids will be entertained throughout the entire day with community mural painting, children’s entertainers, face painting, costume making, arts and crafts, dancing with puppets, or just time to relax on a comfy couch to read stories. At the Teen Scene, your young adults can learn to play a musical instrument with free, professional instruction and jamming with friends. From time to time you may catch special guests performing intimate sets for the teens. Here they can socialize, play games, get hair wraps, and even learn to juggle. You and your family will feel right at home!
A treasured activity at the Vibes are the Puppet Parade and World Peace Ceremony, which take place on Sunday morning at the Kids’ Tent and Teen Scene. At the Green Vibes Stage, there is a special musical performance for families by Andy “The Music Man.” At the conclusion of the performance, families can join in a parade with puppets, costumes, stilt walkers, and musicians to the Main Stage and partake in a World Peace Flag ceremony.
Family Camping is situated nearby as well as clean bathrooms. Out of all the festivals Sensible Reason has attended, we believe GOTV provides the BEST family camping situations and sober camping! It’s the ideal compromise between a child’s need to have fun, and a parent’s desire to catch as much music as possible. Take extra child safety precautions, and upon arrival, register your kids in the Kids’ Tent between 9AM and 8PM. Here, your children will be given a bracelet to wear during the festival containing your contact info. The safety and security staff at GOTV takes extra care in creating a family-friendly environment. Get more information here. Also, don’t forget to pack a bathing suit! GOTV is located at the Seaside Park, situated on the shore of the beautiful Long Island Sound, so take a dip or relax on the beach!
