GBA Short: The U.S. Open
Earlier this week in golf, the U.S. Open claimed a new champion. For the first time since good ol’ Tiger Woods, 21-year-old Jordan Spieth won his second professional title within a month of his first at the PGA Tour. He beat out the favorite Dustin Johnson, who had a decent lead (at least 3 strokes on the other guys!) until he choked on the last hole and Spieth won by a single stroke.
Whatever your take on golf, it is easy to admit that at times the game can hold a certain amount of suspense. But beyond that, golf is not much of a spectator sport, and it can be really hard to get excited about. It is a game for men (and women) with too much time on their hands in some opinions. But hey, it’s the only sport that allows and encourages drinking on the field for the average golfer and that’s something to admire.
