Get Ready for Squeeze-apod: Dopapod to Return to Philly
They released their newest album Never Odd Or Even just this week, recently finished a stint opening for the prog-jam gods of Umphrey’s McGee, and just last week began the extensive headlining portion of their Fall Tour. In sum, the Berklee-bred quartet that goes by Dopapod is on fire right now. And on Saturday, November 22nd at District N9NE, Dopapod will bring that fire to Philadelphia with joyously funky opening act the Main Squeeze.
The band dabbles in many genres, but elements of funk often find their way into its music. Dopapod has a way of putting a sinister yet comical, at times almost circus-like spin on the funk. The Main Squeeze, on the other hand, tends to take their funk with a spoonful of sugar. A jovial dose of positivity, their music is sure to put a smile on your face. The meeting point of these two bands’ funky grooves would be a feast for the ears in this writer’s humble opinion. And guess what? Fans might get a chance to see what such a combination would entail – a little birdie may have told Sensible Reason that sit-ins during this show are a very real possibility. Get your tickets here for $16 – they’ll be $18 at the door.
A Dopapod show, by itself, is something any live music lover should check out at least once (Although if you check it out once, I’m willing to bet you’ll be back for more.). Adding Chicago-based up-and-comers the Main Squeeze to this night of music makes it just too good to pass up. Check out Dopapod’s complete schedule here, as well as the Main Squeeze’s here.
