GoldFish’s South African Live Electronica Heads to the US
Post by Sam Lake
Goldfish is a beautiful fusion of funky electronic production and live instruments. The combination of different native cultures, soulful jazz, and intricate progressive house beats, give life to an unforgettable live music experience. The band is comprised of two exceptionally talented musicians hailing from Cape Town, South Africa. After recording their debut album in 2006, Caught in the Loop, they began performing internationally earning a resident DJ gig Friday nights at the world famous Pacha Ibiza and touring at festivals such as Glastonbury and Ultra Festival Miami
And now, North East, it is your time! You’ll be able to catch them on tour before they head to the UK in Philadelphia, PA October 30th at SoundGarden Hall. This is not a show to miss!
The most recent single released by Goldfish, Sugar Man (remix) adds a rhythmic twist to a folk song routed in South African culture. Bass and guitar samples blended with carefully spliced and edited vocals give life to the cadence of the steady dance beat.
The song Fort Knox off Perceptions of Pacha cracked US itune’s top 10 dance tracks. Reminiscent of tropical vibes using flutes and melodic keyboard notes, the track reflects upon the band’s stay in the beautiful town of Ibiza.
My personal favorite, the SAMA award-winning album, Get Busy Living features the YouTube music video hit, We Come Together. The off-beat synth and ridiculously funky saxophone samples inspire happiness and carefree movement, its that sound that gets into your body and forces you to dance like nobodies around.
Goldfish’s hypnotizing beats are matched only by their awe-inspiring performances. Be prepared for a dance party you will never forget with tunes that will take your mind on the vacation of a lifetime.
