Gramatik Set To Bring The Funk To NYC’s Playstation Theatre Feb. 20
Around this time last year, Slovenian producer Gramatik came through New York City where he delivered his funky energy for two epic nights of sold-out performances at Best Buy Theatre; successfully leaving the audience grooving and grinning from ear to ear. On Saturday, February 20, Gramatik will be returning to The Big Apple for the first time since his main stage performance at Electric Zoo to kick off his 2016 U.S. tour at the same venue. Setting the vibe for the night will be openers Alexander Lewis and Sweater Beats.
The Times Square venue has since changed its name to Playstation Theatre this past year, yet still possesses the same vibe and energy throughout – an energy that’s sure to pair perfectly with the groovy tunes of Gramatik, resulting in one hell of a Saturday night out that you won’t want to miss out on.
Gramatik will be touring in support of the release of his “Native Son” remixes, an EP featuring Raekwon of Wu-Tang Clan, as well as his soon to come Epigram EP which is expected to arrive this Spring.
In addition to producing new music and being the head honcho over at Lowtemp Music, Gramatik’s also been quite busy making appearances elsewhere. He recently guest starred on Lisa Ling CNN, where he remixed a track that later landed itself in Narcos, a five-star Netflix original series. He also recently released an independent film, which won the “Best Short Film” award over at LA’s International Underground Film Festival.
With that being said, it’s a little under two weeks until Gramatik brings his funktronic wisdom to the bright heart of Manhattan. The dance music scene has grown quite fond of the producer over the years, maintaining a solid fan base with a powerful and exciting energy that’s impossible to ignore, especially here in New York City. Don’t believe me? Check out his tour video below:
If this show is anything like last year’s, you can be sure to expect some killer opening sets followed by bumping hip-hop and funk grooves all night long, accompanied by trippy light displays and animated graphics… maybe even some guest appearances. It’s guaranteed to be an electrifying party in the city that never sleeps, so put on your funkiest dancing pants and snap-backs (although there’s obviously no specific dress code at these groovetacular events), and just be yourself!
