Great South Bay Music Festival Artist Spotlight: Balance and Composure
This year’s Great South Bay Music Festival in Long Island has quite the lineup this year! There is a wonderful diversity to this festival, and one group we are very excited about is Balance and Composure. Balance and Composure is an amazingly talented American post-hardcore/indie/alternative rock band hailing from Doylestown, Pennsylvania. The band consists of members Jon Simmons (vocals, guitar), Erik Petersen (guitar), Any Slaymaker (guitar, vocals), Matt Warner (bass), and Bailey Van Ellis (drums). The band was formed after the break up of a couple local bands back in 2009 and has been rocking out ever since.
Balance and Composure’s album The Things We Think We Are Missing hit number 51 on Billboard 200. Their songs are intricate and thoughtful, with much more brooding under the surface than you may see on first glance. Their sound is gritty, real, and reminiscent of alt-rock bands from days past. While listening to Balance and Composure, you may find yourself back in a high school daze, the frustrations, pain, release – They do an amazing job taking the listener through the spectrum of emotions with their music, while providing a sort of companionship throughout it all. There is a whole lot of talent within the band, and their live performance is great. If you are going to be at the Great South Bay Music Festival, make it a priority to see these talented guys!
