HundredMillionThousand Leads A Night Of Sonic Exploration At El Cortez 2/23/18
This Friday, March 23, genre-defying producer/composer Noel Jon a.k.a Hundredmillionthousand will be headlining a night of sonic exploration at El Cortez in Brooklyn. Joining the immensely talented producer originally from Edmonton, Canada will be a trio of dope underground artists. Xuan Rong, The Space Wanderer, and Sarah Snider will all be combing their talents on Friday night.
HMT is the moniker of. HMT is of Iranian-Filipino descent from Edmonton and now based in Toronto, Canada. In addition to musical explorations, HMT is heavily involved in post-production, design, and a/v. HMT has been one of our favorite unearthed gems here at Sensible Reason and his sound is revered as a modern take on early Massive Attack and Amon Tobin. HMT’s style involves futurist sound design, cinematic ambiance, Persian instrumentation, and aggressive downtempo percussion.
His live performance is truly unique and innovative as HMT contextualizes his music with a visual narration of “Gordafarid” (a suppressed female storyteller in Iran) through audio/visual, and laser performance. Conceptualized as a sonic mood journal with the aesthetic of an ‘Iranian Space Odyssey’, HMT’s debut album, lp1, was self-released this April on vinyl and digital. lp1 blew us away with its lush soundscapes and left of center arrangements. As an artist who is always looking to not just think outside the box but rearrange the box into a completely new shape, HMT has the keen musicianship and considerable production ability to inspire and captivate minds.
The Space Wanderer is the experimental solo project of Nicholas Comaratta on Postseason Franchise Records. Dripping in reverb and delay, his latest album “Yukon” is a step in a dreamy new direction for the lo-fi producer and DJ. His live shows feature psychedelic recreations of his recordings as well as glimpses into future releases. Sarah Snider is a sound/visual artist working at the intersection of chance, identity, and technology.
If you are a true fan of uniquely constructed electronic experimental music represented by a diverse and enthralling cast of artists then this show is right up your alley.
