Ichisan opens for The Disco Biscuits!
Ichisan will be opening for The Disco Biscuits on February 20th, kicking off their three night run in Philadelphia at the Electric Factory. Igor Skafar, a.k.a. Ichisan, a Slovenian photographer turned DJ, is creating quite a name for himself. In 2008, Ichisan released his first solo international 12’’ on London’s Airtight recordings, and it received a four star review in iDj Magazine. In November 2013, Ichisan made his North America debut and attracted much positive attention among the electronic music community. Ichisan is planning on a full-length release in 2014, followed by an international tour.
Ichisan’s music may be considered a blend of disco and house music, and it certainly is, but Igor’s special blend of organic instruments and specific brand of chill dance music make progressive house a truer label for his work. Instead of producing your typical disco or house beats, Ichisan makes sure to incorporate jazz, funk, R&B, and many other genres with a laid-back, groovy feel, and even occasional samples. Ichisan’s music is not nearly as repetitive or annoying as some of his contemporaries in the house music scene, and everything he incorporates in his music is done so tastefully and with so much subtlety that one can’t help but feel this is the way electronic music should be created, with great patience and thought behind every note, not just mindless buildups and drops. Ichisan is going to do big things. If you plan on seeing the Biscuits on February 20th, try to make it out for Ichisan’s set!
