World-renowned Dj and producer Jamie Jones returned to The Brooklyn Mirage last weekend bringing with him the body grooving Paradise event to the top outdoor venue on the East Coast. These two forces joined for a sultry send-off of the summer season which at The Brooklyn Mirage was filled by some of the most popular artists in the world. Jamie Jones’ Paradise Productions has been a staple in Europe capturing a residency at the world-renowned DC-10 nightclub in Ibiza bringing his fun-filled and hard-hitting tunes to the masses. Coming to New York he showcased a slew of house legends consisting of Kenny Dope, Louie Vega, Lee Foss, Alan Fitzpatrick, Cuartero, Octave One (Live), Rebuke, Benny Soto, Mike Nervous, DJ Holographic, Mele, and David Berrie. With three stages to exhibit the festival-like experience of Paradise Productions and eye-opening custom stage production combined with the mixture of lasers, smoke, and visuals to transform a venue in the industrial side of Brooklyn into an oasis of sound and sight.

My first show at The Brooklyn Mirage was Jamie Jones for his Paradise tour in 2018, a 10 plus hour showcase of house, tech house, and deep house. Coincidentally also my first time seeing Jamie Jones outside of a festival. That experience blew my mind and from that moment I fell in love with this dynamic duo, during that summer I went to The Brooklyn Mirage sometimes three or four times a week and I tried to bring every one of my friends out to show them why this was a magical place. Fast forward a year and a few months and this signature event is one of the last of the season, even though it is sad to see Summer leave I think it was a very beautiful moment in time for the New York City music scene. It marks the end of a season where there was so much good music coming through New York to gently caress us into the Fall. If I had one word to describe Jamie Jones and The Brooklyn Mirage it would be bliss, something so perfect that it didn’t need anything else. I’ll always remember watching the show from the top of the castle with the moon and the city at my back wishing it would never end.

Jamie Jones earned his keep at The Brooklyn Mirage, spinning at some of the biggest festivals in the world but still down to earth with his electric smile and bouncy dance moves. The cry of the crowd when he finally finished playing speaks levels on his reign over the music world. Jamie played at all 3 stages throughout the late-night till 5 am displaying his sonic versatility. Lee Foss came with his genre-blending style of R&B and house which was the perfect meeting spot for all my Holy Ship friends. Then we have the Masters at Work making their NY debut composed of veterans Kenny Dope and Louie Vega teaching history through sound. Truly a perfect night in late September, a perfect show, and a perfect venue. Till next season when Mr. Jones will grace us with his allure we will carry this time capsule and share it with love.

Joseph Lou

Joseph but most people call me Joey. I was born and raised in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn and graduated from St. John's University with a B.S. in Economics. During that time I got prime exposure to the electronic music scene in New York City where I fell in love with the community and it's vibrant culture. I got to be a part of Heart Beats and learn a new side to the industry with the help of some amazing friends. Now I get to write about things that inspire me and interest me and hope to spark interest and innovation.
