“Jellyfish” (Music Video) by Galapaghost (Electro Pop, Ambient)
Hailing from the legendary hippie town of Woodstock, Galapaghost is the solo project of Casey Chandler. Having no label, manager or band, Chandler produces all of his music himself. The multi-instrumentalist has been on a steady exploration into electronic music, which is a departure from his usual indie/folk style. His latest single “Jellyfish” is the true culmination of Galapaghost’s dynamic musicianship and new musical direction.
“Jellyfish” is a stirring example of Galapaghost’sutterly gorgeous ambient sound. The meditative melody is tied together beautifully by sumptuous synths and ethereal vocals. The forward-thinking new track is accompanied by an equally artistic music video.”Jellyfish” from is off of Galaphaghost’s latest album Sootie, which was released in August 2018. The video was directed by Alonso Lujan, a good friend of mine in Austin. The video was filmed in Austin and features actors Sydney Chandler and Justin Arnold.
The Director of the video for Jellyfish, Alonso Lujan spoke about the inspiration for the video saying:
Staying true to the inspiration of Casey’s song, that all familiar feeling of watching life pass you by, I wanted to encapsulate this emotion through a series of vignettes where we would explore both the contemplative beauty in the monotony of the drifting through daily life, and the chaotic energy of the dissatisfied mind.
With five albums released under the Galaphghost moniker its easy to see that Chandler has concocted a unique and contemplative style all his own. His first two albums were released on a small Italian label called Lady Lovely. He self-released his 3rd album I Never Arrived in 2016 and it already has over 2 million streams on Spotify.
