Krewella Brings Play Hard Tour to New York
Electro trio Krewella will be bringing their heavy, sexy beats to New York this weekend, starting with a SOLD OUT SHOW at the Westcott in Syracuse on Thursday, February 7, followed by a show at Pacha in NYC on Friday. If you’re into full-throttle dubby and fun dance music, this is a show you definitely don’t want to miss.
Krewella consists of two sisters, Yasmine and Jahan, and Rainman (Chris) and is based out of Chicago, IL. Rainman acts as producer and the girls work with their own live vocals to help fabricate as a team the epicness that is Krewella. Though Krewella started in 2007, they really launched headfirst onto the scene with their their latest EP “Play Hard” (featured below) and video “Killing It” in June 2012. Since then, they have been their Play Hard Tour and pretty much have not stopped being on the move, opening for the likes of Borgore, Diplo, Zeds Dead, Flux Pavilion, Afrojack, Kaskade, and even T Pain. They’ve been hustling it (and killing it) all over the country and they’re ready for New York. Seriously, check out all of their Play Hard Tour dates from 2012 (and they’re STILL going strong!):
I caught their set headlining set at Surrender in Las Vegas back in December and was blown away. Besides the fact that the club is totally top notch, the trio absolutely destroyed the dance floor. They lead a flawless production, seaming between dubstep, techno, house, drumb&bass, and (something I think many DJs struggle with) interacting with the crowd. Their drops were just at the right moments, getting people to clench their teeth and throw their arms down hard. When the tension was released, I would look around to catch big grins all around. My parents were at the show (yeah, they’re awesome) and they literally had to drag me away at 3:30am– I was devastated that I couldn’t catch the end of the set, it was so good.
