Speaking of which, have you filled out your festival application yet? Whether you want to be a vendor, play your own music to the masses, create art, an interactive atmosphere, or just be of general help to the festival itself, applications are up now and waiting for you! Contributing to a festival that you are attending is one of the best ways to meet new friends and feel like you’re part of a larger community; it’s always nice to feel like you have a purpose. You can also peep what some volunteer rock stars had to say that worked with Lightning in a Bottle for numerous years and just can’t get enough of it.
If you never attended Lightning in a Bottle before and just want to know what the heck it’s all about, a great place to start on their website is the page, “Then and Now: The History of LIB.” This page will offer you detailed information on the festival’s roots, its many homes throughout the years, some key performances and atmospheres, and where they are today. Knowing the history of your community is key to understanding what it is all about.
