Lotus’ 3-Night Brooklyn Bowl NYC Run Added To 2014 Tour
Lotus just added a 3-night run to their 2014 tour schedule at Brooklyn Bowl on April 14th through the 16th.
This midweek run marks their first Brooklyn Bowl performance, which is one of my favorite venues. It’s a cocktail of live music, bowling, comfort food, and quality tap beer, which is conveniently located in the heart of Williamsburg at 61 Wythe Ave between N 11th St. and N 12th St., which is walking distance from the L and G train.
Currently on a break from touring, the Lotus boys are starting to work on their next full-length project, which will have “a more dance-y, summery vibe,” according to Luke Miller. At the same time, they’re also figuring out the release of their latest album that they just finished, which is 6 songs of piano and guitar. Synths, drum machines, and electronics took a back seat this time around. They’ve played three tracks live thus far, one being “Gilded Age” written by bassist Jesse Miller.
Getting back to basics is exactly what the music industry and NYC nightlife needs right now, so hopefully guitarist / keyboardist Luke Miller works in some new material when he devises the set lists. It’s actually an auspicious wish considering Miller hinted at selecting atypical tracks for the Brooklyn run, as well as “digging deep into the catalog.” He also wrote the lyrics for some of their new tracks, which are performed by a singer who Lotus has previously worked with, so maybe he’ll debut these unreleased songs to celebrate Lotus popping their Brooklyn Bowl cherry.
