Lotus Hits The Road With An Immense Winter Tour

About one week from today, instrumental quintet Lotus will take the stage in Burlington, VT for the first of forty-six shows scheduled over the next two and a half months. Over the course of their Winter Tour, the band will hit cities throughout the country, including a two-night run in the New York City area with a special, sold-out performance at the extremely intimate Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, as well as a three-night run at Boulder Theater in Colorado. Yesterday Lotus announced the addition of a show in Chattanooga, TN on March 17, suggesting that the tour may continue to grow even larger than its already-epic proportions.

The show in Burlington, which will take place on January 24 at Higher Ground Ballroom, marks the beginning of Lotus’ biggest tour to date. It also comes at the heels of an enormously successful five-night New Years run that included performances in Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore. As if the band has not already begun 2013 with a bang, Lotus will also officially release their new album Build on February 19. Build succeeds in balancing the band’s instrumental essence with an unequivocally more electronic sound, incorporating a variety of musical genres in doing so.  The second single off the new album, called “Kodiak,” was released to the public on Soundcloud earlier this month, and can be found below.

The combined force of the energy from the New Years run (which has yet to dissipate) and the excitement of a new album and a huge national tour may very well launch Lotus to landmark heights over the next several months. The most up-to-date tour schedule, as well as ticket information, can be found on the band’s website here. The tour schedule as it now stands has been reprinted below.  There is a good chance they will perform at one or more venues near you; if so, do yourself a favor and seize the opportunity. And don’t forget to buy your tickets in advance – the band has already indicated their expectation that the first week of the tour will sell out. If the last five nights of 2012 are any indication, the winter of 2013 will bring Lotus much success, and you won’t want to miss out on it.
