The Main Squeeze Returns to NYC
If this up-and-coming band isn’t on your radar yet, they should be. In fact, I hesitate to even call them “up-and-coming” anymore. After a whirlwind year, opening for Page McConnell and the Meter Men, playing notable festivals around the world, and selling out their most recent NYC stop in just minutes, The Main Squeeze is way up there, and deservedly so.
From the first time I saw them, amongst a small yet passionate following of friends and extensions of that, I knew these guys would be going places. After seeing them at Equifunk in the summer of 2012, I went as far as to compare the experience to a mini Phish show. The energy exchanged between band and crowd was really revolutionary for such a young band. Combine that with exceptional talent, funkadelic tunes, and soulful lyrics and you’ve got yourself a bunch of stars in the making.
Luckily for us New Yorkers who weren’t fortunate enough to score tickets to the intimate show at Fontana’s last month, they’re back at Gramercy Theater on Wednesday, November 27, and ready to rock your socks off. Join me in a night of funky freshness and get squozen. Get your tickets here, and check out a piece from that memorable Equifunk performance from the Sensible Reason archives below:
